In July 2015, Washington, D.C., was selected as one of the original 28 communities nationwide to participate in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) ConnectHome demonstration. ConnectHome’s mission is to narrow the digital divide for children and families living in HUD-assisted housing. dcConnectHome is the local partnership between the District of Columbia Housing Authority, the city government, and national/local organizations working to bring this vision to life.
Because of the program’s success the dcConnectHome initiative has become a mentor for new communities nationwide selected to join ConnectHomeUSA.
Purpose
dcConnectHome is committed to narrowing the digital divide by helping to ensure DCHA residents have access to resources and opportunities afforded by internet connectivity and use of high speed broadband. dcConnectHome is a multi-year endeavor driven by the collective will of a network of partners focused on making sure DCHA residents are equipped to engage in the digital world.
