A message from the Office of General Counsel for the DCHA

The Office of General Counsel for the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) wishes to advise the public of the following processes for submitting legal documents and receiving requests temporarily as a result of OGC Telework status to avoid the spread of Coronavirus and to limit staff on the premises:

  1. Subpoenas

DCHA will temporarily process subpoenas that are sent electronically to subpoena@dchousing.org. Subpoena packages that are defective or untimely will be rejected.  We will acknowledge receipt after confirming validity of the package.  Your subpoena will not be considered served or accepted until it is acknowledged as valid.  DCHA will make best efforts to process the subpoenas within 7-10 business days. Please note that DCHA may not be able to fill certain subpoenas for videos, witnesses, and other categories due to the lack of staff on site. We will inform you of our capabilities upon receipt of the subpoena.

  1. Complaints/Summonses

Complaints may be provided to DCHA electronically at complaint@dchousing.org.  We will make every attempt to respond within the time period allotted for a response from the date of receipt of the email.  Any service packages that are defective will be rejected.  We will acknowledge receipt after confirming validity of the package.

  1. FOIA Requests

FOIA requests should be sent to foia@dchousing.org. Please note that DCHA may not be able to fulfill FOIA requests timely due to employees working remotely. We will communicate with the requestor and ensure that each request is fulfilled as soon as possible.

  1. Records Requests

Records requests should be sent to recordsrequest@dchousing.org. Please note that DCHA may not be able to fulfill records requests timely due to employees working remotely. We will communicate with the requestor and ensure that each request is fulfilled as soon as possible.
